Last Light Edit respects your privacy. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why we use it and the choices you have.

Who is responsible for your information?

The data controller is Martin Carter trading as Last Light Edit. For privacy questions or requests, email martin@mallardcs.com.

What we collect

When you ask to receive Into the Light or other Last Light Edit updates, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your first name. We also retain a record of when and where you signed up, the consent wording you agreed to and your current subscription status.

If you contact us directly, we may also keep your message and any information you choose to include.

Why we use it

We use your details to send the updates you requested, manage your subscription, answer enquiries and maintain evidence of your choices. Our legal basis for sending newsletter and development updates is your consent. Our legal basis for responding to enquiries and keeping necessary administrative records is our legitimate interests in operating Last Light Edit responsibly.

Who processes it

We use trusted service providers to operate the website, collect signups, store records and, when introduced, send emails. These providers may include Netlify and our chosen email delivery provider. They process information on our behalf and only for the services we ask them to provide.

Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we require an appropriate legal safeguard for the transfer.

How long we keep it

We keep your active subscription details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. If you unsubscribe, we retain only the minimum information needed to honour that request and make sure we do not add you back accidentally. We periodically review inactive records and remove information we no longer need.

Your choices and rights

You may withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email, visiting our unsubscribe page, or contacting us. You may also ask us to:

• provide a copy of your personal information;
• correct inaccurate information;
• delete information where the law allows;
• restrict or object to certain uses of your information; or
• provide information in a portable format where applicable.

Keeping information safe

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information and limit access to people and providers who need it.

Analytics and cookies

We use privacy-conscious, aggregated website measurement to understand which pages are visited. Please read our Cookie Notice for details.
